"If Novo Banco goes to market I will be very excited"

BCP's CEO once again assures that the bank's plan is to grow organically, and is not in a race for Novo Banco. However, during Millennium's results presentation, and when questioned about the possibility of no longer being the only listed bank on the stock exchange, Miguel Maya rejected the idea that this path could reduce BCP's value.

"If Novo Banco goes to market, I will be very excited. We are alone in the market and we will be accompanied ", said the CEO, showing that the valuation of the competitor – which could reach 5 billion euros – does not scare him. " If it is worth that amount, I will be even more excited about what BCP could be worth ", he said ironically.

Maya once again refused to comment on the scenario of a possible purchase: "We are following the news but we have nothing to add", she stated, reiterating that "BCP's plan is through organic growth" and once again admitting that "every time there is an operation on the market it is our obligation to analyze it".
